The Black Pearl by Francine Craft

Posted by: passiononthepages on: March 28, 2012

I really enjoyed this book and it was set in my favorite city in the world, New Orleans. It is set during the time period right after the slaves were freed.
Parts of the book were slow but I managed to not skip any pages.. I must say that Cele reminds me of a few people I know, blinded by their own wants.

This book is out of print and I must be honest and advise that I received this book as a gift from the author although it does not affect my review.

it was a good read.

Faith (Brides of the West #1) (HeartQuest)
Faith (Brides of the West #1) by Lori Copeland

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. Faith and sisters decide to become mail order brides to secure their futures. Faith arrives in Deliverance, TX and there is drama from the very start. The stage breaks an axle and she arrives to meet her rich husband and the rest of the town dirty and hot.

I am going to read the three other stories in the series because I really enjoyed this book. This is a  historical romance with Christian undertones so there is no steaminess and that is okay because it is not needed.

Exception to the Rules [Interracial Romance]
Exception to the Rules [Interracial Romance] by Stephanie Morris

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry between the characters.  My only beef with the book is the same I have had with her others. There are typographical errors in the book. for instance that there is a sentenced where it should read “she stared at him” but instead of stared the book has “started” drives me crazy. Otherwise good story

Beautiful Sins by Jennifer Hampton (Book 1)

Posted by: passiononthepages on: March 10, 2012

What I liked about the book?

It was quite interesting, it took the paranormal in a new direction. I am quite glad that she make this story overtly sexual which helped to make it more enjoyable than a lot of other stories in the genre.
The story kept me interested even though I wish it were a little more in depth.

What I did not like?

The fact that Leigha appears to have some special meaning to Prince Alex but it is never revealed in the first book. Why is he so connected to her and can find her when she is in trouble. I have alot of questions?

What could make the book better?

I am reserving my judgement of the book because I now know there is another book in the series so once I read that one I will know if this was worth it.

Finger Lickin’ Fifteen by Janet Evanovich

Finger Lickin' Fifteen (Stephanie Plum, #15)
Finger Lickin’ Fifteen by Janet Evanovich

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What I liked about the book?

IT was funny, I mean really funny. The killer who giggles, the gun totin’ grandma. And a host of other characters. Stephanie has some much happening to her should have been in a mental hospital.  And the conversation with the Landlord after her apartment was firebombed was too funny.

What I did not like?

IT wasn’t a bad book, I just wish Lula had a different manner of speaking. I think reading the books before this one will help in knowing more about the characters.

What the author could have done better?

since is book 15, I don’t think that there is much she should change.

Say Amen Again by Reshonda Tate Billingsley

Posted by: passiononthepages on: March 10, 2012

Drama. From the first word on the first page.

What I liked about the book?

The author kept the story on point there was no wasted characters or action in this book. Seriously I could not put it down once I started because I needed to know what was going to happen next.

What I did not like about the book?

N/a

How could the author improve the book?

Not possible. I suspect that she put a lot of herself into this book to make sure that it was as good as the first and I must say that she actually outdid herself.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
